Introduction¶
What is ExtraBar?¶
ExtraBar is a macOS app that lets you add apps into your menu bar, and customize their menu using custom actions and deep links.
Instead of opening an app and navigating through menus, you click once and go directly where you need.
Who is it for?¶
Designers — Jump to specific Figma projects, files or nodes.
Developers — Open specific project in your IDE of choice.
Managers — Start new Zoom calls or jump into meetings or jump to specific Slack channels.
Power users — Manage Keyboard Maestro macros and Raycast operations, run Shortcuts or Scripts directly from your menu bar.
How is it different from Bartender or Ice?¶
Applications like Bartender or Ice help you hide menu bar icons.
ExtraBar helps you customize actions — it’s about creating a personalized menu bar, not icon management.
Different Menu Modes - Add apps directly into your menu bar, or have them in a Floating Bar or Menu Mode collapsed under a single icon
Zero permissions required — Accessibility is optional for better keyboard navigation
Works offline — Internet needed only for license activation
Private — No analytics, no telemetry, your config stays local
Portable — Export/import to sync across Macs
