Menu Mode¶

Menu Mode collapses all your bar items behind a single icon. Click it to open a dropdown with all your apps and actions organized in a menu.

ExtraBar’s settings icon stays separate — Menu Mode only affects your app items.

Setting up Menu Mode¶

  1. Open ExtraBar → Settings (⚙) → Menu Mode

  2. Toggle Enable Menu Mode

You can also switch modes with ⌥ + ⌘ + M.

Menu Mode works in both floating bar and menu bar display modes.

Icon customization¶

Choose what the menu trigger icon looks like. Three icon types are available:

  • SF Symbol — Pick any SF Symbol from the built-in picker

  • Emoji — Use a single emoji as the icon

  • Character — Use a single letter or character

For SF Symbols and characters, you can also set a custom color from the presets or the color picker.

Navigation¶

Menu Mode supports keyboard shortcuts for quick item selection. When enabled, press 1–9 or A–Z to jump to items directly. When disabled, use arrow keys for navigation.

Toggle this in ExtraBar → Settings (⚙) → Menu Mode → Navigation.
